We Pray

Our endless thirst is what makes us work so hard at physical life: producing,
earning, consuming. Thirst, too, excites our spiritual longings, our proving and
testing, our fretful striving for virtue, even for perfection. But our thirst is so great
we can get lost in it and ignore the very truth that could satisfy.

A gospel song says it well:
Like the woman at the well I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy;
But then I heard my Savior speaking:
“Draw from the well that never shall run dry.”

In the gospel according to John, 4: 5-42, the unfolding conversation between Jesus
and a woman of Samaria, reveals what happens when we drink the life-giving
water Jesus offers: we come face-to-face with the Saviour, we admit the truth of
our own lives, we run to proclaim Jesus’s presence and gospel to all who will hear.

Prayer
Lord,
teach us to seek you,
and reveal yourself to us when we seek you
for we cannot seek you unless you first teach us,
nor find you except you reveal yourself to us.
let us see you in longing,
and long for you in seeking.
Let us find you in love
and love you in finding,
O Jesus Christ our Lord. (St Ambrose of Milan)

Please fill out a prayer request or come join us Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm at the church as together we lift up our lives, our community and our world to God.
